  • A child abuse report is made every ten second.
  • Approximately 80% of abused and neglected children are below the age of four.
  • More than five children die every day due to child abuse and/or neglect. This is the worst record of any industrialized nation.
  • Approximately 30% of abused and neglected children will grow up and abuse thier own children.
  • Approximately 80% of 21 year olds who had experienced childhood abuse or neglect met criteria for at least one psycholigical disorder.
  • 36% of incarcerated women in the U.S. were abused as children.

These statistics are sombering. Now you are probably wondering what you can do to help prevent child abuse and neglect. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has provided a Resource Guide to answer that question.
