Abba Father

Romans 8:15-16 says “The spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry. “Abba, Father.” The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
Today I just wanted to share that Scripture and share a few thoughts with you.
So many orphaned children struggle with fear and lack of safety and security. One of the greatest factors in attachment is creating a healthy sense of safety and security for your adopted child. These children have a fear of so many things… abandonment, the unknown, strangers, the dark, etc. It is our goal as adoptive parents to reinforce to our children that we are there for them and that they are safe. Sadly so many children have lived in this environment of fear for so long that it takes time for the child to form that trust of safety with his adoptive parents.
I am so very grateful that God has adopted us as His children. As this Scripture says, we do not have to live in fear because our Heavenly father has adopted us as His own children.
Much like our adopted children can find safety in our love, we are able to find peace and rest in our Heavenly Father.
