Hague Accreditation Update

Happy Monday!

As most of you know, our agency has been going through the Hague accreditation process. If you are unfamiliar with what Hague accreditation is, it is a regulatory accreditation process designed to ensure compliance with the provisions and standards of the Hague Adoption Convention, the Intercountry Adoption Act and the Hague Regulations. The Hague Accreditation/Approval Standards were developed by the US Department of State.

Becoming a Hague accredited agency means that the agency meets very stringent standards in regards to the international adoption process. Being Hague accredited will be very beneficial to ICM for reasons such as:

  1. Broadening our potential clientele
  2. Ensuring that our staff is fully trained and continuing education
  3. Ensuring that we are committed to the highest level of service to our clients
  4. Minimizing risk and liability
  5. Providing a network to ICM of other Hague accredited agencies
  6. Guaranteeing sound financial practice

We are very excited to become Hague accredited. Our Director of Adoptions (Maria Gocke) has been working very hard on the accreditation process. We are officially eight weeks away from our due date for submission of our accreditation paperwork. Then, in September, we will have a site visit. As the eight week deadline approaches, Maria might become more difficult to reach as she holes herself up in the conference room. You can always contact Dayna Bruss, ICM Adoption Specialist, by phone or email ( if you have an emergency that needs to be handled immediately.
